Typically,
direct debit payment transactions in
ContactsLaw operate by prompting the user for an amount which, if matched to a template, selects the appropriateĀ pro-forma direct debitĀ and populates the remainder of the form. In this respect, it can said that direct debits are
amount-driven (compared to most other general transactions, which are
account-driven). Creditor payments, however, are
reconciliation-driven; that is to say that you build the transaction amount by selecting from a list of reconciled invoices/statements. This mitigates the need for a template-like mechanism and thus there is no need to begin by entering the amount of the transaction; in fact, to do so would undermine the integrity provided by the reconciliation process.
